A trip to a natural paradise just a stone's throw from Quebec City!
A magnificent course that will show you the beauty of Côte-de-Beaupré, while giving you a taste of the forest climbs of its neighbouring region, Charlevoix.
During this course, you will have the opportunity to take up the challenge of the Côte de la Vieille Miche, just after the Cap-Tourmente Loop. You will then have a few consecutive climbs to Saint-Tite-des-Caps, to then return by the peaceful and magnificent road of Avenue Royale which crosses the land of Saint-Ferreol-les-Neiges. The majority of the climbs are therefore concentrated over 10 kilometers, from the Côte de la Vieille Miche (km18) to Saint-Tite-des-Caps (km28). Whew!
The starting point we suggest is Apollo Coffee, a must on the Côte-de-Beaupré. Here, you can enjoy a delicious coffee before you hit the road. There is also free parking in front of the Basilica of Saint-Anne-de-Beaupré.
If you ever want to extend the course, it is always possible to leave from Quebec City. As an indication, the loop that starts from the city center totals about 130km. We are therefore talking about a considerably longer journey, but it is a very interesting option for those who want to spice up the classic Quebec to Beaupré trip by adding a few climbs.
The Côte de la Vieille Miche is a very steep and sinuous climb (some segments are over 19%!!). Although not very busy, keep to the right for safety since cars coming downhill sometimes have no visibility before a turn.
In addition, about 5 kilometers of the route passes through Route 138. Although it is a fairly short passage, cars drive very fast and the shoulder is quite narrow. It is therefore recommended to have lights to be visible on the course, especially at this point.
