How to import a route (.gpx file) to a Garmin device

There are many ways to import a route to a Garmin device, but we tried to simplify things for you. Here are the two quickest and easiest methods!

1. with Strava

If you own a Strava Premium account, you can create "itineraries" and they can be directly synchronised to your Garmin device. Here how you can do this:

Link Garmin Connect with Strava
1.
Open the Garmin Connect app
2. Click on "More " in the bottom right
3. Click on "Settings " → "Connected Apps " → "Strava "
4. Activate the "Courses " function in the "Data shared from Strava to Connect " section.

Create an itinerary in Strava
1.
Select any mappa itinerary (see all)
2. In the "Get the route" section, click on "See the route on Strava"

3. On Strava, click on "Save"
4. The route will be saved in your Strava itineraries and will automatically be synchronised with Garmin Connect. To find your routes in the Garmin app, go to « Garmin Connect » → « More » → « Training & Planning » → « Courses ». If the route isn't automatically sent to the Garmin device, follow Garmin's instructions here.

2. with Garmin Connect

You can add a course with your smartphone or your computer via the Garmin Connect app. Garmin provides a clear how-to here: Import a third-party course to Garmin Connect.
